Pavement Rehabilitation Project starts Oct. 6
Oct 02, 2017
PEORIA -- Weather permitting, work to repair a section of Mt. Hawley's runway and taxiway is slated to begin Friday, Oct. 6, and the runway is scheduled to be closed Oct. 16-20.
Hangar tenants at Mt. Hawley will have limited to no access to their aircraft during construction, particularly during the day.
Pilots needing to fly during the anticipated runway closure may contact Airport Director Gene Olson or Operations Director Doug Palmer at (309) 697-8272, ext. 100, and arrangements to briefly relocate aircraft to the Peoria International Airport can be made.
"We apologize for any inconvenience this work may cause, and I appreciate everyone's cooperation as we work to improve the Mt. Hawley Airport," Operations Director Doug Palmer said of the two-phase project, which is made possible by a Federal Aviation Administration grant.
Hangar tenants will be notified directly with instructions and a construction timelime. That tentative construction schedule is also listed below.
As a safety precaution, pilots are asked to tow all aircraft to an area outside construction prior to starting the engine. Anyone needing assistance in moving their aircraft, please contact 3MY Line Service at (309) 303-1003. After hours, please contact PIA Airport Operations at (309) 697-8272, ext. 110.
